Russian-Sudanese talks to construct oil refinery in Port Sudan

The Undersecretary of Ministry of Oil, Gas and Minerals, Azhari Ibrahim Basbar, stressed the strength of relations between Sudan and Russia, which embodied the spirit of joint cooperation in the implementation of a number of vital and important projects in Sudan, making them under the auspices and interest of the leadership of the two countries to reach them to strategic relations.
Basbar opened the technical discussions between the ministry and ROSGEO – Russian State Geological Company, on the construction of the Port Sudan oil refinery and the exploration and exploitation of gas in Block15 in the Red Sea state.
He expressed his hope that the talks will lead to the signing of agreements in the near future, especially that the Sudan has a large stock of petroleum resources and natural gas, as well as export ports and Russia has high potential in oil and gas industry.
For his part, the technical delegation of the Russian company expressed its readiness to discuss all offers and access to agreements enabling the company to invest in the oil and gas sector in Sudan.
