DDR work with AU to collect weapons in Sudan

The Commission on Disarmament, Reintegration and Demobilization (DDR) has confirmed the continuation of work with the African Union (AU) to enforce a number of projects, including the collection of weapons in the various states of Sudan.

Speaking to (SMC) the head of the Small Arms and Light Weapons Department Salah Ahmed Idris said about projects that will be implemented with UNAMID to raise awareness of partnerships with the United Nations.

He pointed out that there is a team in South Kordofan, Blue Nile and Sennar State to assess the needs of assigning demobilized persons in these three areas, noting that the mandate of central Darfur will see next month the demobilization of the employees of the movements signed for peace.

He revealed a partnership with the Italian agency in Blue Nile to review the effectiveness of project plans and the evaluation of new projects in the region.
