The Chairman of Sudan’s transitional military council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, said that the Armed Forces are capable of protecting the transition to democratic rule in Sudan and preserving the objectives of the glorious revolution.
On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Al Burhan said members of the armed forces at this stage represent the country’s defense force, praising their role at that time in maintaining security and stability in the country.
He added that the Armed Forces Day this year came and Sudan is preparing to celebrate the final signing next Saturday on the agreement which will achieve the transition to a state of freedom and justice.
Al-Burhan stressed the keenness to construct professional armed forces capable of maintaining the security and safety of the country, without loyalty to any group or entity.
The Sudanese Armed Forces celebrate its anniversary on August 14 every year, in commemoration of handing over the command of the Sudanese army to General Ahmed Mohamed on August 14, 1954.
The final constitutional document is due to be signed on Saturday in Khartoum, which defines the government institutions during the transitional period, and its powers and the relationship between each other.
