Sudanese authorities relieve Red Sea State’s governor

The Sovereign Council issued a decision on “Sunday” to relieve the governor of Red Sea State, General Essam Abdel Farraj and the State security’s director due to the clashes that took place between Nuba and Beni Amer tribes in Port Sudan.

Brigadier General Taher Abu Haga said in a statement on Sudan television that the council decided to declare a state of emergency in the state and forming of a commission of inquiry to investigate into the events.

He said that the sovereign council stresses the need for the security services to remain impartial in their dealings with the parties to the conflict, stressing that they will deal firmly with all those who prove their bias to one of the parties.

It is noteworthy that the clashes broke out between Nuba and Beni Amer tribes on August 22 in the city of Port Sudan, left 10 people dead and dozens wounded.
