EU provides € 700,000 to help those affected by floods in Sudan

The European Union (EU) on Sunday has provided 700,000 euros as humanitarian aid to provide emergency relief to thousands of people affected by recent floods in Sudan.

“The torrential rains in Sudan have caused widespread damage to people’s homes and livelihoods,” said EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid Christos Stylianides, according to EU statement in Khartoum.

“We express our solidarity and sympathy with the Sudanese in the face of the tragic loss of life,” he added “As an immediate relief response, EU-supported aid organisations working in Sudan have already been helping in providing shelter and basic essential items to the people affected by the floods.
