Deputy Chairman of Sudan People Liberation Movement- North (SPLM-N), the leading figure in the Sudanese Revolutionary Front, Yasir Arman has received a proposal from the Sovereign Council to form Peace Commission be chaired by Abdul-Fattah al-Burhan, the Chairman of the Sovereign Council.
Arman said in a statement to “alyoumaltali” newspaper published “Sunday”, that the sovereign council has already begun signing agreements, and peace negotiations may begin before the formation of the Commission, pointing out that the participation of Abdulaziz al-Hilu in the last meetings in Juba was a major achievement.
He added: “We hear Abdul Wahid’s statements about participation in peace, and we have a desire to contact him and meet with him.”
Arman stressed that the constitutional document is flawed, but at the same time, “we must not throw accusations at those who drafted it.”
Arman expressed his dissatisfaction of the trials against the symbols and leaders of the former regime, pointing out that these trials are insufficient, calling for the extradition of Bashir to the International Criminal Court.
