The Federation of Medical Health Profession (FMHP) in Sudan has called on its cadres in Libya to return to Sudan, against the background of kidnapping a Sudanese nurse from her work in Benghazi, and taking her to an unknown destination, Libya has been suffering from security disturbances since the death of Gaddafi in 2011.

The Secretary General of the Federation, Dr. Musab Beree, urged all Sudanese medical staff in Libya to return home, besides taking caution and reporting any suspicious movements.

“We strongly condemn the organized violence against medical personnel particulary, and against the Sudanese women in general,” he said.

He appealed to the international community to play its part in relation to the vulnerable groups of the Sudanese nurses and women, but felt that securing such groups was currently not available in Libya, which he said required the international community to intervene.

Benghazi recently witnessed the killing of three Sudanese women following their abduction and torture.
