The head of the Sudanese Congress Party, and the leading figure in the forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change, Omar al-Digair, called to hold understanding with the Revolutionary Front to reconsider the formation of the Legislative Council.
He pointed out that there is an item in the Juba Declaration, signed earlier between the Council of Sovereignty and the Revolutionary Front, which states on the postponement of the formation of the Legislative Council after the signing of the peace agreement.
The formation of the Legislative Council derives its necessity from the urgent need to issue new legislation within the framework of the legal reforms stipulated in the Constitutional Document, besides monitoring the performance of the government organs and following up the implementation of the objectives of the revolution, which is one of the tasks of the transitional period.
He stressed the importance of accelerating the formation of legislative councils, as well as subjecting the structures of the transitional authority to review, after the completion of the peace agreements to ensure a fair representation of the forces of armed struggle in power.
The president of the Sudanese Congress Party, said that the forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change have not selecting its representatives in the Legislative Council yet, but its various components are now engaged in discussions on the criteria for the selection of members.
