The First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information, Rashid Saeed, said that those who have committed crimes against journalists in Sudan during the past 30 years (Bashir regime) will be held accountable, considering that impunity from such crimes is a national issue after 30 years of dictatorship.

Speaking at the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists in Sudan at the Ministry on Wednesday, Rashid said that no one, regardless of his high position, would get away with it, declaring readiness to work with the United Nations in drawing up a national plan to combat impunity. He welcomed the proposals to establish an integrated team to help in promoting press freedom in Sudan.
