Its time to lift sanction imposed on Sudan: Finance Minister

Addressing the Sudan International Partners Forum at the Corinthia Hotel this morning, Minister of Finance Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badawi affirmed that the time has come to lift the sanctions on Sudan, stressing  the importance of removing Sudan from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

The Minister of Finance reviewed the efforts of Sudan and his delegation on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank, also the meetings of  Friends of Sudan Forum and meetings with the US Treasury and the results of these meetings.

Minister of Finance Ibrahim al-Badawi said that the 2020 budget will focus on services such as water, health, education and increase the allocation for these services.

He pointed out the importance of providing support, pointing out that a ministerial committee for bread and transportation has been formed.  He further added that they are expecting  the next budget to take development and production into account rather than consumption,as they seek sustainable budget growth and abundance of commodities rather than inflation financing.

He said that Sudan’s debts currently amount to 54 billion dollars, which is twice the gross domestic product compared to the parallel price of the dollar.
